The President, His Excellency E.D Mnangagwa briefly announced on Friday evening that Zimbabwe will be officially going on total lockdown from Monday 30th March for a period of 21 days. It sounds convenient to make such a ruling in order to prevent the spread of the virus, especially in a vulnerable country like Zimbabwe still undergoing preparation to combat the virus. At least our security forces will be ready on Monday to enforce the Lockdown and deal with offenders. It's been disappointing how some people choose to ignore the rule of law and fail to abide by simply staying at home. What's even worse were reports from South Africa that people had parties amid such a crisis. In Zimbabwe, the main issue with having a lockdown is that the informal sector dominates the economy which means that people might suffer as they have no passive income. The government has made promises to avail grants through social services. Just maintain high levels of discipline, one can still be productive even during isolation at home. Bond with your families and detach from the world because the world is in chaos anyway so why engage in chaos instead of finding inner peace. Anyway, stay in confinement so you avoid unnecessary trouble with law enforcement.
Lockdown rules and regulations

-Funerals exempt from the directive, the gathering shouldn't exceed 50.
-Only food markets allowed to operate. Markets and stalls dealing in non-food items remain closed.
-Only Zupco and Public Service Commission vehicles are to carry out public operations.
-Municipality to ensure smooth refuse collection and water reticulation services.
The Government of Zimbabwe has immediately gazetted new laws that could see people spending up to 20 years in jail for fake news on the novel coronavirus. Only the state-approved version of the story shall be reported.
Young people at a party despite the SA government imposing Lockdown. This is a mockery of the president's authority and the welfare of other people including their own families.
