Your fate lies in your 'hands': Covid-19 in Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwean government alluded to claims that it was ready to tackle the Corona epidemic as Health Minister Obadiah Moyo addressed journalists on the 2nd of March 2020 before any clear cases were reported in Zimbabwe. 3 weeks later we have 1 death confirmed by the government of Zimbabwe and the sad part is this wasn't an ordinary casualty, it displayed how incapacitated the government is when faced with an epidemic of this magnitude. The government has since tried to defend their negligence by claiming that the doctors "tried their best" to save the late Zororo Makamba despite a statement released by the family who witnessed the dereliction of the doctors first hand. Not much detail into the story but at this point, it's not safe to claim that the government hasn't since fastpaced it's preparedness to deal with Covid-19 as there are confirmed reports that Wilkins is under renovation, funded by the Chinese. Not only that but Sakunda Holdings has committed to a partnership with the government to set up isolation centers across the country. This is a beneficial cause for a desperate population even though there might be ulterior motives behind this move. In the meantime though, individuals have come out on social media claiming that they have witnessed deaths that the government isn't bringing to light and I feel that at this point the government can't be playing such a dangerous game with their people's lives just to save face. It's that time when the government should maintain high levels of transparency for the safety of everyone. An anonymous source has come forward with details on the poor state of service delivery at Parirenyatwa, suspected Covid-19 cases are receiving treatment inside a tent which has limited equipped for dealing with the epidemic. As a blogging site, we have a strict policy of not reporting fake news and our site is an open platform meaning that the progressive developments by the government are also recognized so that our audience isn't compromised. For now, the government has a lot of answering to do regarding the cases that seem to be dismissed for obvious reasons and we hope they keep making progress towards preparing for the virus. At least now they've seen the dreadful impact it has, it was a "punishment to the West" until it came "unannounced" and now it might have its way around the marginalized people of Zimbabwe. Keep safe because more than anything, the general public makes the greatest contribution to the spread of the virus so abide by the safety measures that have been proposed by WHO.
